About Audit
Cummins Power Consulting team conducts electrical analysis through real time load mapping of diesel generators as well as mains and load centres.

Post Analysis, we undertake design, supply, commission energy improvement projects through performance contracting for energy conversation.
 
Methodology of Audit :
  • We use our Cummins Energy Management System interfacing it to source as well as feeders and record parameters for 24/36 hours simultaneously.
  • We verify the KVA demand taking into consideration past twelve month records, kva recorded during the analysis and future expansion in place. Diesel generator sizing is verified as well.
  • We carry out inspection of Capacitors and with the recorded readings in load feeders load end power factor, we evaluate the existing capacitor adequacy.
  • We carry out power pollution analysis through Harmonic Analysis using sophisticated Harmonic Analyzer at source and load feeders.If the total harmonic distortion - voltage or current (THD V or I) is more, we drive down to the load to ascertain which load is causing the pollution. We evaluate the impact of harmonics on the system as a whole and recommend suitable filtration system.
  • We ascertain the operating efficiency levels of motors,utilities like cooling towers, air compressors, chillers, pumps, AC plants,air handling units and evaluate various options to improve the same.
 
Scope :
  • Measurement of critical electrical parameters at source i.e., electricity board (EB) & diesel generator (DG) as well as point of common coupling (PCC).
  • Profiling of real time power factor at point of common coupling (PCC) and feeders.Verification of Capacitors rating, condition and evaluation of real time compensation system functional adequacy.
  • Energy cost calculations for each feeder.
  • Electrical Analysis involving performance evaluation from Energy Conservation point of view for the utilities like Industrial Fans and Blowers,Transformer, Motors, Cooling Towers,Pumps,Compressors.
  • Harmonic Analysis at source and at feeders. If the harmonic content exceeds the limit at feeder level, then we will analyze at the load end. Harmonics cause problems in terms of voltage distortion,zero crossing noise , over heating of transformers and induction motors , nuisance tripping of circuit breakers,over stressing of power factor correction caps,skin effect.
 
Mandays :

It varies from plant to plant and depend on the size of plant and number of utilities. Generally for a mid size plant it is about 10 days site work and about 21 consulting mandays for analysis & report preparation at our office. Two of our engineers will carry out the job. We require 2 weeks advance notice to commence audit assignments.

 
Deliverables :
  • On completion of study, we provide you a detailed report giving the real time readings along with evaluation and our recommendations in terms of
  • Verification of existing configuration of diesel generator set and suggest revised configuration if required from fuel efficiency point of view.
  • Identifying areas of improvement in terms of system power factor.
  • In case if any of the parameters like Power Factor needs improvement, we will offer solutions by way of design, install and commission automatic power factor correction panel, utility automation products.
  • Quantifying the energy savings potential in terms of units of electricity and fiscal terms for utilities like Motors, Cooling Towers, Transformers, Industrial Fans, Pumps, Compressors.
  • Evaluation of options to improve the energy consumption levels of the above mentioned utilities along with investment cost.
  • Harmonics Analysis with recommendation for Harmonic Filtration System.
  • Executive summary of Energy Savings Avenues, Energy Conservation Measures, Financial Feasibility of the suggested Energy Evaluation Measures.
  • If the load centre panels are provided with Current Transformer (CT) shorting links we do not need shut down of load centers during load analysis else we may be need to shutdown load centers for about 20 minutes duration each. While carrying out analysis, we will require the services of your electrical staff while connecting our instruments for safety purpose. However our electrician will do the wiring and associated tasks.
