| Salient features of energy analyser : |
- It is digital and parallax errors in readings are eliminated.
- This single analyser will be providing readings for Ammeter (all three phases), Voltmeter (all three phases), KW meter, Power Factor, Hz, Kwh.
- In addition, Ammeter and Voltmeter selector switches are not needed, thus saving panel space.
- Calibration of the existing electro-magnetic energy meters if due,can be either postponed or avoided.
- Instrument and measurement errors are eliminated.
- Can be used in any panel i.e.,Diesel Generator,Feeder,Distribution Box etc.
- Can be used with any current transformers (CT) ratio as program facility is in-built.
- The analyser has a RS 485 MODBUS communication port for communication with third party devices for example PC8.,PLC etc.

RS 485 NETWORK
Each analyser has a communication port.This port is used to establish communication with the computer.The communication standard is RS 485 over Modbus protocol. Physically the network is a cable - shielded serial cable, Beldon type 9841. Maximum distance over which communication can be established is 1 km. It is possible to go beyond 1 Km with the use of repeaters.
CONVERTER
The data being send from the analysers over RS 485 Modbus has to communicate with the computer over RS232 standards. Hence the data is converted from RS 485 to RS 232 with the help of a converter which shall be connected to the serial communication RS 232 port of the computer.
SCADA SOFTWARE
This software is loaded on the Computer mainly for Energy Monitoring.Energy Monitoring software can communicate with existing energy meters (at site) over RS 485 Modbus protocol.On installing the software we are able to view the electrical parameters online. We can also view history database. The software has the option to select the connected energy meters and electrical parameters can be viewed keeping date and time into consideration.
Given below is an example of the display screen. The display may change on a case to case basis depending on the date, time and parameters selected. |
